Excitement. Hope. Anxiety. Fear of the new, fear of the unknown, fear of pain. Fear to do the wrong think. Arriving at the hospital to give birth, the future mother becomes part of some events, which she is unable to fully understand. Probably in those moments, the maximum concentration is on the sound. The images are distorted, cropped; parts of a reality; fragments taken randomly and recomposed afterwards.
I’ve decides not to present the complete and exact image of the delivery room. I’ve chosen only the audio component to present the whole “picture”. Visually, my attention is drawn towards the details.
My photos present the two major components of birth. The baby and the hospital. While the photos presenting the newborn are abstract images at the border of comprehension, details of skin and blood, the details of the hospital, presenting medical instruments and scenery, are clear, sharp and cold, with no human trace.
The sound defines the space, while the image selection, places the project in time.
